Capitol and Capital City History
Completed in 1890 and expanded later, Wyoming’s Renaissance Revival Capitol is built of sandstone and crowned by a gold-leaf dome.
Cheyenne became territorial capital in 1869 because the Union Pacific Railroad had made it the territory’s fastest-growing and best-connected settlement.
