Capitol and Capital City History
Completed in 1917, Wisconsin’s Beaux-Arts Capitol has a white-granite exterior and four equal wings beneath a monumental dome topped by Wisconsin.
Madison was selected in 1836 as a centrally located planned capital between established eastern settlements and western mining districts.
