The Older, Prettier Courthouse

This was our one hundred-twentieth Courthouse in Texas to visit. That means we are at 47.2% of our goal with 52.8% left to go.

The Randall County Justice Center on Russell Long Blvd at Hwy 87 used to be a Wal-Mart. It was converted into the new courthouse by architects Sims and Pargé and dedicated in 2006.

The older, prettier courthouse was built in 1908 by architect; Robert G. Kirsch in the style of Texas Renaissance with mostly brick.

The clock tower, removed in the 1945 remodeling, was restored, and the courthouse exterior repaired. A rededication ceremony for the exterior restoration was held October 12, 2010.

According to The Courthousese of Texas by Kelsy and Dyal, an annex was built in 1957.
