Ochiltree

This was our 228th Courthouse in Texas to visit. That means we are at 89.8% of our goal with 10.2% left to go.

Date – 1928
Architect – Mann & Co.
Style – Texas Renaissance
Material – Brick, steel and concrete
Addition – 1974

On the corner of Main and Sixth Street.

This is the county’s second courthouse. (The first in 1890.) In Texas Renaissance Style, the simple lines and good details make this courthouse a fine example of between-the-wars architecture.

The 1928 Ochiltree County courthouse – “The original south side entrance and half of the rear side of the building have been obscured by the 1974 addition. Locals informed me that it’s pronounced “AH-kull-tree.”” – Terry Jeanson
