Irion

This was our one hundred-eighty-fifth Courthouse in Texas to visit. That means we are at 72.8% of our goal with 27.2% left to go.

The 1937 Irion County courthouse was designed by the David S. Castle Company. Castle designed several handsome Classical Revival style courthouses in Texas during the 1920s. In the late 1930s, Castle’s designs had matured to the more severe, Art-Moderne style, as seen in the 1937 Irion County courthouse, the 1938 Sterling County courthouse and the 1939 Borden County courthouse. – Terry Jeanson
