Presidio

This was our 245th Courthouse in Texas to visit. That means we are at 96.5% of our goal with 3.5% left to go. On the day we had scheduled to visit this courthouse, the town of Marfa was celebrating “Marfa Lights” and the courthouse square was off limits. They had concerts and vendors all over the grounds. Even though I had been warned ahead of time that we would not be able to get a photograph of our car by the courthouse, we drove there in hopes that someone would allow us in.

Thanks to Officer Anahi Garcia, we were able to break through the barriers and get a shot of the building. Unfortunately, it is only the back side of the building, and we were not able to get other photographs. But we may return at some time in the future and take more pictures.

A landmark of the Big Bend. Large dome is visible for miles. Constructed of native stone and brick made at Marfa. Stucco added later. Built 1886 in this county’s third seat of justice. First county seat was Fort Leaton, on the Rio Grande; second, Fort Davis.
